The Citizens Advice Bureau Jamaica (CAB) is a non-profit, non- governmental organization that was founded in 1973.
February 1972 marked the establishment of an Advice Service as a project by the Council of Voluntary Social Services (C.V.S.S.), under the directorship of Hazel Monteith, JP. The Advice Service was the first of its kind and was initially administered by a Steering Committee comprising of representatives with a mix of disciplines.
The Advice Service was geared towards providing information on the following:
Registration of Births and Deaths
Late Registrations
Change of Name
Marriage/Divorce
Maintenance
Communication
Attitudes
The Art of Interviewing
The Art of Listening
