Company description
Wigton Windfarm Limited, a subsidiary of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ), is the largest wind energy facility in the English-speaking Caribbean. Situated in Rose Hill, Manchester, the wind farm consists of three plants: Phase I (20.7 MW), which started running in 2004; Phase II (18 MW) added in 2010; and Phase III (24 MW) operational since 2016, bringing the total capacity of the farm to 62.7 MW. The primary goal of the company is to help and support the use of wind and alternative energy sources for the diversification of Jamaica's energy mix. Since it began functioning, Wigton has reduced the national oil consumption by nearly 406,000 barrels, resulting in an estimated savings of J$3 billion for Jamaica.
