Job Presentation
  • To ensure that world class standards in service, food, and hygiene are maintained in the company’s operations.


Responsibilities
  • To supervise and coordinate the activities of personnel in all food and beverage areas, in an effort to provide world class customer service to patrons.
  • To arrange parties and / or special service for patrons.
  • To listen to and to adjust complaints of patrons.
  • To assign tasks and supervise activities of food and beverage service personnel
  • To inspect serving stations for neatness and cleanliness, and to ensure the establishment of a thorough cleaning schedule.
  • To ensure the efficient and timely requisitioning of supplies from the stores, and to receive and store goods in accordance with the company’s procedures.
  • To ensure that workstation is at all times manned.
  • To ensure that at the closure of each shift, cash and all items of food and beverage are accounted for and adequately secured.
  • To ensure that the handling of equipment conforms to the manufacturer’s specifications and or the manager’s instructions.
  • To report the malfunctioning of equipment to the relevant authority.
  • To expertly handle individual or group with credit request.
  • To ensure timely presentation of employee hours for payment of wages.
  • To assist in administering the activities of the department inclusive of interviewing prospective employees, completing appraisals, handling disciplinary issues, and to ensure that safety and security measures are observed by all employees.
  • To establish, in conjunction with the location Manager, policies and procedures which will ensure containment of the food cost.
  • To act as custodian of the company’s funds, and to protect and prevent from loss all company property, which may occur through employee or customer malice.
  • To ensure that all employees are suitably uniformed for the start of duty.
  • To ensure that any other function assigned by the manager is performed.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Reports directly to: Dietitian Manager
SAFETY AND SECURITY
  • To utilize when required, all safety gear and equipment which have been provided.
  • To adhere to all safety and security regulations specified by the management of Versair In-Flite Services (2006) Limited.
  • To report any breach of security to the Manager, or in his absence to the Operations Manager, or the General Manager.
  • To take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety and security of personnel, and equipment for the company, the hospital and the Health Authority.
  • To immediately report any accident that occurs during the course of duty, and to complete the required documentation.
  • To take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety and security of fellow employees and company equipment.
DEGREE OF AUTHORITY
  • Can initiate disciplinary action.
  • May re- assign staff members
  • Can requisition items from the main stores.
CONTACTS
  • Internally with: Employees in all departments.
  • Externally with: Customers, security officers.
REPORTS
  • Daily – Lodgement, stock sheet – A/C
  • Weekly – Manhour, operation report – Unit Manager.
  • 10, 20 end month – Inventory, meal count – A/C.
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
  1. The job is satisfactorily performed when:
  • Completed jobs are timely and of a high professional standard.
  • Customer complaints are kept at a minimum.
  • Adequate provision made for all clients.
  • Proper cash management techniques are displayed.
  • Good working relations and a positive attitude to work are displayed.
  • Supervisory skills are expertly used to boost profitability and productivity.
  • Completed appraisals are timely and are objectively done.
  • The food cost for the Cafeteria is within budget.
  • The requisitioning of goods from the stores is cost and time efficient.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • This position requires a fair amount of walking to the various areas which need to be supervised, but in general, work is performed in the cafeteria.


Skills
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements as laid down by law
A strong sense of loyalty, honesty and integrity
An understanding of the company’s mission, vision, goals and its operating procedures
A valid food handler’s permit
