QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's in Geography, Cartography of Planning from a recognized tertiary institution. Specialized training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and or Information technology preferably at the post-graduate level A minimum of three-five years related experience
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Extensive knowledge of GIS software and applications
- Keen understanding of GIS applications in physical planning/infrastructure planning
- Strong supervisory capacity
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to: Director - Planning and Research
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identify information needs and implements collection development strategies which will ensure the acquisition of a variety of information relevant to the Agency present and future projects, the Ministry and other arms government to support policy formulation, decision making and problem solving.
- Develop and maintain a spatial database of all Agencies properties, land acquisition, project sites, road networks and related structures etc.
- Manage the classification and processing of geographic information using standard rules and established procedures and practices.
- Design appropriate research and survey methodologies in order to abstract pertinent data relevant to the Agency's land information requirements in a form accessible to a variety of end users.
- Coordinate the collection, input, analysis and retrieval of data relevant to the effective use and operation of a GIS in the Agency.
- Maintain knowledge of current trends in GIS trends, technologies and applications.
- Provide plans, overlays. Diagrams, graphs, reports, etc using GIS.
